How to Obtain a Library Card
Calumet City residents can now obtain a new library card the same day they apply for it. Residents will be required to bring with them a current government issued ID and a piece of mail dated within the last 30 days with the same name and address as the ID. Material Loan Periods and Limits
Books generally circulate for two weeks while AV items such as DVDs, Music CDs, and Video Games circulate for one week. New items that are in high-demand (Lucky Day Collection) will circulate for a shorter time period and are not holdable or renewable.Material Loan Periods and Limits PDF Download
Fines and Fees
Items that are kept by the patron beyond their stated due dates will incur overdue fines per day until the item is returned. Once fines have reached $5 patrons will not be allowed to check out any other materials. You may pay your fines and fees in person at the circulation desk or online through our catalog at catalog.swanlibraries.net. Lost and Damaged Items
Patrons are responsible for all items that are checked out to them. There are certain situations in which patrons will have to pay for lost and/or damaged items, up to and including the full cost of the item plus a $5 processing fee. Study Rooms
The library has two study rooms that patrons may use for non-commercial purposes. Patrons may reserve a room for up to two hours per day. The rooms can be scheduled up to a week ahead of time. Community Room
