SPOOKY SPIDERS

Age: 4 & 5 years

Hear silly monster tales and decorate a pair of beasties for your feetsies.

 

 

DON’T BE SCARED OF THE DARK

Age: 3-8 years

Time: 6:30-7:15pm

 

Come to the library in your pajamas to listen to monster bedtime stories, sing songs and

play games. Crafts include designing a flashlight keychain, making a monster door

hanger and  having other eerie evening monster fun.

The Spoon Man offers a funny, interactive comedy program. He gives a real stirring

performance and leaves a lasting impression after playing spoons on a few selected

READER’S THEATER

Reader’s Theater is a dramatic activity in which readers use their voices to bring

characters to life. Participating children must be strong readers and be available for

every session. Final performance will be on August 14 at the Goblins & Ghouls Grim

Goodies Party.

Learn about a variety of bats through a photo and video presentation. What do you want to know about bats? There will be time for questions and answers, along with a close-up look at a real live bat at the end of the program.

 

 

TINY TOTS

Time: 11-11:45am

 

Tiny Tots is designed for youngsters not yet three years of age, accompanied by an adult or caregiver. This interactive program between the child and adult includes board books, puppets, music, nursery rhymes, finger plays and other Tiny Tot fun!

 

 

COLORFUL CREATURES

Age: 7 & older

Date: Wednesday, July 21

Time: 6:30-7:15pm

Make your very own kooky monster out of sand.

 

 

 

PICTURE BINGO

Age: 4 & 5 years

Play a simple version of Bingo with pictures instead of numbers. There will be frightfully fun prizes for the winners.

Registration is required for all programs.  Call or visit the library on each specific registration date.  Names will be taken until each program is full.  There are no waiting lists.  If your child cannot attend a program he/she is registered for, please call the library to cancel so another child may have that space.  Programs start on time; tardy children may not be admitted.  Caregivers must remain in the library while their child is attending a library program.  Thank you for your cooperation.

SCARE UP A GOOD BOOK

SUMMER READING PROGRAM

 

Be a monster reader and join Youth Services’ summer reading program SCARE UP A GOOD BOOK! All readers through eighth grade are welcome. Pre-readers may be read to by an adult or older sibling.

 

DON’T BE SCARED-COME TO THE LIBRARY

Register at the Youth Services reference desk beginning Monday, June 7 through Saturday, July 17 and receive a packet of information. Choose one group below.

BE A SPOOK-TACULAR READER

Read any and as many books as you want from Monday, June 7 through Saturday, July 31. (8 weeks) Books must be on your reading level and checked out from our library.

 

READ IF YOU DARE

The first time you read 10, 5, 3 or 1 book (depending on which group you belong to) bring your reading log to Youth Services and receive a prize. At this time you will also write your name on a creepy creature and place it in the Ghoulish Graveyard. Continue to read and earn tickets for prizes during June and July. Return your log to Youth Services no later than Saturday, July 31. 

 

 

HAUNTED HAPPENINGS

Ways to earn more tickets for prizes - Attend any summer program, color the SCARE UP A GOOD BOOK coloring sheet and/or correctly complete any of the activity sheets found in your registration packet. Return them to the Youth Services reference desk at any time before July 31.

 

READING IS A TERRIFYING TREAT        

During the week of Tuesday, August 3 through Saturday, August 7 stop by Youth Services to receive a certificate, paperback book and redeem your tickets for prizes. Enter your name in a raffle and receive an invitation to the Goblins & Ghouls Grim Goodies Party on Saturday, August 14 at 2:00pm.
