Senior citizens, age 55 or older, are invited to an afternoon of fun and refreshments when we gather for another Senior Bingo Party on 
Tuesday, October 16, at 2:00 PM.  Prizes will be awarded to game winners.  Registration for this activity will be accepted beginning Tuesday, 
October 2.  Seating is limited.  

                 CPR CLASS

Saturday, October 20, at 9:00 AM, the Calumet City Professional Firefighters Association will provide CPR Training.  This training covers certification for CPR on infants, children, and adults.  Registration must be done in person along with a $30.00 fee. No checks please.

MEDICARE “HELP DESK”

Community Relations Specialist, Tamatha Smith, of BlueCross BlueShield of Illinois “Service in the Neighborhood” program will be available on Thursday, October 25, from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM in our Community Room.  She will address individual questions concerning Medicare choices or issues related to current benefits.  Assistance will be provided on a “first come, first serve” basis.   

BUILDING A BETTER MEMORY

Have you ever gone into a room and forgot why you went in there?  Are you still looking for something you put away for “safekeeping”?  If you answered “yes” to either of these questions, come and find out how to build a better memory.  On Friday, November 2, from 10:00 AM – 12:00 Noon, Molly Hofer,  Family Life Educator with the University of Illinois Extension, will cover how researchers are examining the memory process, how memory changes as we age, and strategies for remembering better.

CHRISTMAS CONCERT

Under the direction of Dr. Michael Koller and his assistant Michael Cierski, the Celebration Choir of St. Victor will perform an hour long concert of religious music and Christmas carols at the Calumet City Public Library on Sunday, December 16, at 2 PM.  The concert will feature not only choir pieces, but also soloists and opportunities for the audience to join the choir in singing familiar Christmas carols, as well as some favorite ethnic carols. Instrumentalists (flutes, guitar, and keyboard) and handbells will accompany the choir. Join us and get into the Holiday Spirit. Refreshments will be served.           T-YAB MEETINGS

The Calumet City Public Library Teen Youth Advisory Board (T-YAB) is open to any student in grades 9 – 12, and planning meetings are held the first Monday of every month at 6:30 PM in the Library Community Room.  Please contact Sonja Lee at 708-862-6220 ext. 2 for additional information.  (There will be no meeting on September 3 – Labor Day.) 

INTERNET SCAVENGER HUNT

The Teen Internet Scavenger Hunt is open to 13 -19 years olds and runs from September 29 – October 13. Test your Internet surfing skills by answering as many questions as possible. No adult is supposed to help you solve the hunt but you can get some assistance from one of the librarians. There will be first and second prize winners. Answers and winners will be announced on October 16.  In the event that more than one person solves the hunt completely, the prizes will be awarded by a random drawing. Pick up your Internet Scavenger Hunt entry form at the Adult Services Desk, starting September 29.
