To celebrate National Poetry Month please join us on Thursday, February 28, at 7:00 PM, for a special evening of poetry readings.  Anyone 13 years of age or older is encouraged to participate in reading either their own original work or works of any of their favorite poets.  All lovers of poetry are welcome to attend!

Please pick up a registration form at the Adult Services Reference Desk if you wish to 
participate in the readings. If you have any

ANTIQUES – WHAT ARE THEY WORTH ?

On Tuesday, March 4, at 7:00 PM, Rex Newell of Rex’s Antiques, will discuss current trends in the antique market.  His presentation will be followed by the examination and evaluation of antiques brought in by the public.  Due to time limitations, only the first 40 people to register can bring in one hand-held item for evaluation.

TAI CHI BASICS

Please join Tina Schmidt-McNulty, Clinical 
Exercise Specialist, with Purdue University 
Calumet Fitness Center on Wednesday, 
March 12, at 7:00PM to learn basic Tai Chi 
movements to relieve stress and promote health and longevity. Participants are asked to wear comfortable clothing which allows easy
movement.


WHO GETS GRANDMA’S 
YELLOW PIE PLATE ?

Almost all individuals have valued personal 
belongings.  On Wednesday, March 19 at 6:30 PM, Molly Hofer,  Family Life Educator with the 
University of Illinois Extension, will explore ways to talk with family members about the difficult 
subject of distributing family items with emotional and sentimental value while still keeping
relationships intact.

The Calumet City Public Library Teen Youth  Advisory Board (T-YAB) is open to any student in grades 9 – 12, and planning meetings are held the first Monday of every month at 6:30 PM in the Library Community Room.  Please contact Sonja Lee at 708-862-6220 ext. 2 for additional

TEEN FEUD

Join us on Thursday, January 17, at 7:00 PM for a fun night of “Teen Feud”, based on the popular TV game show, Family Feud.   This program is open to 13-19 year olds. There will be 
refreshments and prizes. Sign up at the Adult Services Desk or call 708–862-6220 Ext 2.


DESIGN YOUR OWN T-SHIRT

On Saturday, February 16, from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM, teens are invited to our Design Your Own
T-Shirt workshop.  Participants must be 13 -19 years of age. Space is limited so sign up at the Adult Services Desk or call 708-862-6220 Ext. 2 to register.  Participants will supply their own 
T-shirts and designing materials will be provided by the Library.

OPEN MIKE NIGHT 

Do you have a talent that you would like to share?  T-YAB will sponsor another popular Open Mike Night on Thursday, March 20, at 7:00 PM.  All students 13 – 19 years of age are invited to participate.  Applications for participants are available at the Adult Services Reference Desk and must be returned by March 18.  Performances are limited to five minutes and can be any form of music, dance, theater, comedy, poetry, or even juggling!  Material performed must be appropriate for all audiences.
